Why wouldn't I? There weren't any for Hardline,or Battle Front. So why wouldn't I ask this question?. I mean SERIOUSLY!

The lack of private servers for hardline and battle front, I believe is a major reason these games did not do well on PC. I was hyped up for battle front but when I saw there were no private servers, I passed on the game as did most of my buds. Now if BF1 does not allow this I predict the same results will ensue.
doing the same thing over again and expecting different results

Probably but the servers will be locked down so you can't change much on them. DICE wants almost full control of them.
Don't worry, you will still have to pay for them.

For the PC community, BFH actually had private servers (rentable ones), my clan rented on for a while (until we realized that nobody was playing). However, the comments of the DICE/EA folks concerning 'persistent squads' and their lead designer saying 'We’ve taken a lot of learnings from that experience, and we feel like we succeeded with Battlefront. We’ll take everything we learned there and apply it to Battlefield One as well' makes me think that they are doing away with private rentable servers that are user admin'ed. I hope they won't, but so far they aren't doing much to give me hope that they will.

Where are you even getting that BFH never had dedicated servers? I can go rent a BFH server right now if I wanted lol. They weren't released on game release yes. So stop with misinformation please. Battlefront and Battlefield are two different gamer groups. If DICE actually does no dedicated servers BF1 is dead before it even releases.

i don't get it, who would pay money to run a server they can have no control over?
    its pointless
there would no point in playing on different servers to find one, with the style or gameplay you like
they would all be the exact same.

COD got rid of private servers and moved to 'matchmaking' which killed the COD division of my gaming clan. EA seems to like to emulate Activision. No one in our clan wanted to support Battlefront as a division, partly because of the game play, but also because of the lack of server options. It is really hard to build and maintain a community when you are limited to playing with only a 'squad' worth of your friends at a time. I enjoyed the gameplay of BF1 immensely, and will buy the game when it comes out, but will not buy any DLC if there is no way for my group of friends to have our own 'space' in which to play the game.

they're just forums.. i dont like them or dislike them anymore. I think they are just trying to greatly reduce the amount of traffic to battlelog so they don't need to maintain the whole site since it will not be used for battlefield 1.

3rd party 'rentable servers' will be a thing of the past. There will be match making across the board soon of some sort. Yes you will be able to favorite servers and choose what region and gamemode but they will not be what we want. Devs don't want their hard earned work on 3rd party managed servers. This has been the trend in games and it will consume this title as well. Trust me when I say THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN weather we like it or not.
By the small chance I am wrong and we get those Glorious Dedicated Rented Admin Ran Servers .. then I will be wrong and be glad to be proved so

I understand your point of view (all of you here). But here is another. For a lot of players (I guess most but don't have any numbers) it's far easier to just press play button and play the game rather than searching a server without stupid rules (they can be pretty funny for company to chill and laugh but not for regular play) and badmins with good rotation and etc. Press play and enjoy. Most people aren't asking more from the game.

I've preordered BF1, but if there wont be any rentable servers, then me and my clanmates will stick to playing BFH and BF4 and it it will be the last game I've preordered.

No, it wont. PC players like to complain and voice opinions but when it doesnt go our way we forget and keep playing.

BF1 Alpha had a server browser, just like BF4 and BFH (and they did also have them in their Alpha). So player selectable servers are definitely confirmed.
The server options are also the same as BF4, including Ranked and Official. Can't have Ranked servers without server rentals.
Titanfall and Battlefront chose not to have dedicated servers, but private matches are possible. As in other games where that is allowed, you can only invite your friends in to play, which is better than nothing but not really the same thing. You can make a party with friends.
BF1 is going to do that even better (and it will come to BF4 and BFH as well). You can create a squad before joining a game, and stay together when switching servers and even when switching between BF1, BF4, and BFH. Pretty cool new feature.

I agree there are many folks who want to press and play, and that there are some 'badmins' and servers with stupid rules, but there are also many good admins and good servers that are customized. The combination of standard play and customizable play has kept Battlefield popular with individuals and clans/platoons for so long. I just hope that BF1 will keep both options by retaining the ability to rent and customize servers. Why not try to keep more people happy rather than alienate a loyal customer base that enjoys clan/platoon play? We shall see soon [maybe] with the public beta (if they use GSPs to host the beta as they did in BFH or if they only use their dedis as they did in Battlefront).

Yeah i agree that with or without private servers gamers will suck it up and take it, the gaming companies know this and they know that they can push us a long way and we will still play. So i guess they feel that why spend the extra overhead on developing the logic for private servers when they can stick that money in their pockets. I hate it too, i prefer private servers and i do think that it will hurt gaming without them, but as i said true gamers will play no matter how they abuse us.

Game will sell, people will pay and pay. But you can be sure that there's gamers who will not buy Battlefield 1 unless they can control the server they pay for. Battlefield will take a small dent, but anything that hits the wallet gets noticed. Forum posts? We're pissing in the wind here.
